South-West Railways

South-West Railways is one of the oldest railways of Ukraine. It is located on the territory of Kyiv, Vinnitsa, Zhitomir, Chernigiv, Sumy, Khmelnitskiy, and partly Rivne, Chirnivtsi, Cherkasy, Poltava and Ternopol regions.

The total length of SWR is 4 668 km. Electrification lines are 1 937, 1 km long. It is 41,5% of the total railroad length. 93,3% of freights and passenger transportation is fulfilled with electric traction. The rest of transportation is fulfilled with diesel traction. 7 power supply divisions serve electrified lines. Main track miles are 6 438, 1 km, including ferroconcrete sleepers - 4991,3 km (77%), one piece line-3 977, 8 km (61,8%).
